Dr. Donald Nielson was born in Washington D.C. He moved to Kansas City as a young child. A graduate of Center High School, Dr. Don earned a B.S. degree in Biology and Chemistry from U.M.K.C. in 1970. He went on to earn his D.D.S. degree from U.M.K.C. School of Dentistry in 1974.


Dr. Don has been practicing in Olathe since 1974 and was proud to see all four of his children graduate from Olathe South High School. Dr. Dan Nielson, his oldest son is practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Olathe. Jake his younger son manages the IT department for the Planet Sub restaurants. Dr. Kate Stanley, his oldest daughter is a dentist also, and is doing a 2 year Pediatric Residency at Oregon University Dental School in Portland, Oregon. Elisabeth his youngest daughter is a teacher in the Olathe School District.


Dr. Don is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association, the 5th District Dental Society, the Optimists Club, and on the board of his home owners association. He has coached softball, soccer, taught Sunday school, and has been on the Olathe Housing Authority serving as president. He has played softball and golf for years. Dr. Don loves to travel and go to the Lake of the Ozarks. Outside of the office his world revolves around his wife Donna, their 6 children, and nine grandchildren.
